Vanicream

Vanicream is one of the products that I remember seeing all over my house when I was growing up.  My mom used it religiously for her severely dry and cracked skin. What makes it even better is that it includes an SPF 60 sunscreen which can make a huge difference in the quality of your skin and can help to prevent eczema outbreaks due to sunburn.

If you have sensitive skin then surely you know which products irritate your skin and just make everything so much worse.  But it can be frustrating to find a product that will soothe your skin without providing additional and unneeded irritation.  Vanicream doesn’t use dyes, formaldehydes, or flavorings which can cause some of that additional irritation.  Instead they have created products that are free from harsh and irritating chemicals and which can provide needed relief.

One thing I know my mom liked about Vanicream was that it wasn’t a greasy formula.  So many moisturizing lotions leave you feeling like you slipped in an oil spill.  But when you use Vanicream it provides moisture without clogging pores and without leaving a greasy residue so that your skin will be smooth.  It includes ingredients like petrolatum which are effective at sealing in moisture while still allowing your skin to breathe.

Prevent Wrinkles and Aging?

Some people claim that Vanicream can prevent wrinkles and can help decrease the signs of aging in your skin.  Although this seems unlikely your skin could look younger because you are taking care of it and providing it with adequate moisture.  Dry skin tends to look frail, wrinkly, and older so applying an adequate moisturizer could reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles although it is unlikely to completely remove wrinkles from your skin.

There are not many testimonials posted as to the benefits of using Vanicream for anit-aging.  It doesn’t contain some ingredients that would be key to reducing the look of aging but there must be something they are basing it on.  It is probably best to use Vanicream expecting to see an improvement in eczema but not expecting to see an improvement in the look of aging and wrinkles on your skin.

Vanicream Conclusion

Vanicream uses some ingredients that can potentially improve eczema on your skin.  I know that my mom saw success after using it for her severely dry and chapped skin but she didn’t have eczema so maybe it would work differently than it did for her. All in all Vanicream seems like a good option for dry skin.  It can provide moisture and help to relieve itching caused by dry skin but it can’t help to prevent future outbreaks of eczema or help to reduce the bacteria on the surface of the skin that could get in and cause infection.  The best eczema treatments are able to help with all these aspects of eczema so although Vanicream is a good product it falls short of being the best eczema treatment.
