The term Eczema, also called Atopic Dermatitis, includes all kinds of red, blistering, scaly, and itching skin conditions. It appears as an itchy rash of inflamed skin. Eczema can be treated externally with medicated creams or ointments and can be prevented somewhat by keeping the skin well hydrated and moisturized.
If eczema is allowed to persist, it can become both physically uncomfortable and embarrassing because of its appearance. Like many skin conditions such as acne, eczema can cause isolation and alienation because many people mistakenly believe Eczema is contagious, which it is not.
Even though there isn’t a cure for Eczema, with the right treatment, it can be managed and appear much less noticeable as well as reduce the itchiness.

My daughter is 26 and has struggled with eczema outbreaks all of her life. She does take bleach baths once a week or so. She seems to do better in the summer when she can get outside and around a pool. When she was a child she spent a substantial time in the pool, (with sunscreen). Definitely helped control the breakouts.
My allergy doctor advised me to use 1/2 cup of bleach with each bath to help my foster daughter’s eczema. I have been doing it and it does seem to help. He said eczema is more bacterial in nature, so the bleach aids in eliminating the bacteria. He also suggested that the swimming pool is good due to the chlorine in the water. i thought this was odd at first, but with thought, it began to make sense.
I am 30 years old and for the past 5 or more years i get eczema breakouts all the time. The first major breakout I had, I think, was due to using penicilin.
Normally i only had breakouts due the cold dry months, but this year I havent had any relief.
I have it all over my bady. Not necessarily in huge masses, just in areas. Scalp, hands, arms torso, shoulders, legs and feet.
Most of this year i hae been on the antibiotic called amoxicilin due to dental procedures. Could this have caused my constant breakout?
